try the roosevelt field mall post office - they are open til 8pm weekdays, open on saturday and even for a while on sunday - plus everytime i have ever gone in there, there is no line!! they were so nice to us the other night and the invitations made it to queens and suffolk the next day (we handcancelled them at about 7 the night before!)

The one in Hicksville is open 24 hours during the week, I don't know about how crowded it is. We mailed our invites at 10.00 at night.
