Tip List... Have I covered everything?

Tip List... Have I covered everything?

CASH TIPS: $1650
Alter Boys - $30 (divide by 2)
Porter at Church (for clean up) - $15
Limo Drivers: $120 (divided by 3 drivers... $40 each)
DOC - $50
DJ – $75 (owner asked me to give DJ a bigger tip for the fact that they're not charging me for extending my cocktail hour by 1/2 hour)
MC – $50 (owner)
Florist - $60
Videographer - $50
Ceremony Musicians - $30 ($10 each)
Hair: $10
Makeup: $10
The Crescent: $1200 (divided by 4 people)

Do I tip the photographer? (already paying over $2,000 to get doug, the owner of Patken. It's a premium charge in addition to the basic photography package. Do I still have to tip?)
Do I tip the waiters? 18% Gratuity is already included in the per person price?

Thanks ladies! I'm just making sure that I have enough CASH set aside for the 'day of'.

Are your hair people only doing your hair or everyone's? Are they driving to you? If so, I would give more.

I would give your day of more as weel, depending on her service the day of. That's just me.

actually, according to 'tip etiquette', anything you give to hair or makeup people that drive to your house is extra. You're supposed to tip MORE if you have it done in a salon, since in that case the salon gets the bulk of the $$. Since the hair and makeup people are working independently and coming to me, they get the full amount they're charging anyway, so anything additional is optional.

You don't need to tip the waiters again, but I do think you need to tip the photographer.

You sound like you have it all covered then.

You probably don't need to tip the waiters (already included) but you probably need to tip the maitre d' (mine is not included in the gratuity).

Also, I believe you need to feed them as well.

If the photographer is the owner no tip is needed if they work for the photographer you should tip

I'm confused about tipping the vendors... But aside from their large fees, and the fact that you are including them in a very expensive (albeit discounted) dinner, we are STILL expected to tip them on top of the negotiated fee?

I can understand a delivery person, porter, etc. But the actual vendor?? DOC?? We're PAYING them already!
(Altar boy/girl? Isn't that awkward ??)

It's like here-comes-the-bride-with her purse full of cash, Iet's all get in line! I just think it gets silly after a while...

Sorry, had to vent.

I completely agree - tipping is out of control.

You tip the florist too??? And $60?? I am just wondering why?

Re: Tip List... Have I covered everything?

Oh... BELIEVE ME... I am in No way happy about this. lol. It IS out of control. And a lot of these people work for themselves... and for some of them, we may end up not WANTING to tip, but I at least want to have the $$ prepared so that we're not asking the limo driver to run to the ATM on the way to the reception!

For my DOC, from what I hear, we're going to WANT to tip her (Rosalie... I hear she's a LIFESAVER. Plus, she charges less than some others, so I don't have a problem showing her my appreciation on top of her fee).

I believe it's a long time tradition to tip the altar boys (I at one point heard you're supposed to tip the priest, but then I just read that it's in 'bad taste' to tip clergy, which is FINE BY ME! lol. These kids could be out playing, and instead they're using part of their weekend to participate in our wedding. I do want to give them something. For the porter, we're going to have rose petals lining the aisle, so I want to make sure we show our appreciation for the fact that he will have to clean it up.

The 1200 going to 'The Crescent' includes the attendant, maitre d', and two other people... I forget. So they're covered in that HUGE amount of money.

It's a lot of money... I wish I was tipped like this in my job!

Well, not as much the 'florist', but whoever is delivering the flowers. I'm assuming it's going to be 2 or 3 people. You're supposed to tip $15 for each place they have to bring flowers, per delivery person. I'm figuring 2 delivery people that have to go to my church and the reception site. So, $60 to be safe.

I am curious as to why you are tipping the Crescent Club $1200....
It seems like alot!

Re: Tip List... Have I covered everything?

Here's the article that I used that shellyru posted to another bride who inquired about tipping. There are some tipping guides (such as the one on theknot.com that would break my bank, so this one seemed the most reasonable to me.

http://www.theweddingzone.com/tipping.htm

Ya know what... after re-reading that florist part, I think I'll just put $15 in 4 envelopes, and each delivery person will get one. If there are only 2 delivery people, then I'll just give $30. My DOC said she will consult with my before she hands out the tips.

Although, this article also says that no one person should receive more than $150 in tips, but my reception hall strongly 'suggests' $300 each for 4 people (including the maitre d' and attendant).
