My hall is charging me a 20% service fee. I thought that was the gratutity, but the fine writing says it is not???weird. My banquet manager gave me 3 separate envelopes and wrote 'Maitre-D, Bridal Suite Attendent, & Floor Manager' on each one.
How much would you suggest giving to each one of these? I don't even know what they are. lol

Maitre d is supposed to be tipped 3-5 dollars a person which I think is insane unless he is superb and goes above and beyond...I gave 300 for a party of 140 adults
Bridal attendant I gave $150. She was great, very attentive and so sweet. She started out with 100 but I added to it when I seen how good she was!
The captain/floor manager I was never even told about. Not sure what he does different than the maitre d but I had no idea I had to tip him but he came into the suite at the end of the night to hug me and congratulate me again and of courses prompt me to give him the envelope...lol so he got 100 bc it was all I had on me

Thanks! That made me understand things a little better. I'm wondering if the floor manager splits the $ with the wait staff? Do you think that is a possibility? this is all very confusing!

But does the 20% go to the waitstaff, then you just tip the heads? That is kind of what I thought?

This is sooooo confusing!! So what do you have to tip each waiter & waitress individually???
I really wish halls had a system for tipping everyone correctly/fairly bottom line. Then leave it up to the bride and groom to add a little extra if they feel they want to. But they should seriously tally all the correct tips up for you for a bottom line number!!

the 20% does not go to anyone, it goes to the RH. The waitstaff get nothing unless your guests tip them, the MD should get the most, but if you have a good bridal attendent she might be doing more work then the MD. I have found the bridal attendents are great and are always there for the bride. whereas the MD is about running the party, timing, and food

I remember someone used to work in a few RH's and I don't remember what they said about waitstaff tips.
My mom already told me she would have some $$ on hand for the wait staff (she used to be a waitress). Which is fine with me because really I feel they do the harder work. (Taking all the orders (if you don't have menus repeating it numerous times), going back and forth, carrying trays, getting drinks, refolding napkins (which annoys me), etc.
So personally I will probably be throwing them each a few extra bucks.
