I am getting married in a church. The music fee is $210 which is seperate from the church donation. Do I tip the Organist??? I plan to tip the priest an extra $150 because the donation does not go to him. $210 seems steep for music especially since we are not having a mass. What do I do?

Re: Tip the church organist??
No, we didn't tip. We paid $250 for the organist to play for our ceremony which was about 1 hour long. I thought $250 was way more than enough for one hour. Even for 2 hrs it would have been enough. Plus, the organist doesn't have to share that $$ with anyone, they get to keep it all. I think it's plenty to just pay them their fee.
We did the same with our violinist, who was $300. We didn't tip him either for the same reasons.

I didn't tip anyone at the church. If we had altar servers show up, we would have given them $10 each, but there weren't any. We were told by the pastor at Pre-Cana that tipping was not necessary because the generous donation covered it.

Re: Tip the church organist??
My Mom is a church organist and she just gets the fee she charges...She rarely gets tips...Hope this helps!
