When finalizing your ceremony and reception location, cover all your bases to avoid hassles and mix-ups.

Ask these questions to determine whether this is the site for you:

May we marry at your church even if we're not members?
Will we need to provide our own officiant?
Can we throw confetti, rice or birdseed?
Is adequate parking available?
Will an organist or pianist be provided?
Can we use your on-site decorations and plants?
Will anyone be on hand the day of the ceremony?
What's the total rental fee?
Do you require a contract? May we see a sample copy?
What's the total rental fee?
What's the deposit required for reservation and when is it due?
When is the reservation balance due?
What's your refund policy if we have to postpone or cancel?
How much time is allowed for rental?
Is the facility handicap-accessible?
Are there additional hourly charges when our reception goes longer than planned?
How much the time is available for decorating the day before the wedding?
Is there a janitor provided for cleanup?
Is there a cleaning deposit? Is it refundable? What are the requirements to assure a refund of the cleaning deposit?
Are outside caterers allowed?
What kind of kitchen facilities do you provide?
What china, flatware and stemware can you provide?
What is the reception hall capacity? Is the standing capacity different from the seating capacity?
What kind of reception fixtures do you provide (tables, chairs, etc.)?
What kind of bar facilities do you provide? Are bartenders provided?
Are servers provided? Are gratuities provided in the contract price? What's the percentage?
Do you have a dance floor? What are the dimensions and capacity?
Do you provide a microphone?
Do you provide amplifiers?
Do you provide a public address system?
Is a band or DJ allowed?
Is security provided?
Are there parking fees? Is valet service provided?
Picking the reception location sets the stage for the night. Sit down with your fiancé and discuss your ideas and print out this checklist to make sure you don't forget to ask anything!
