Tipping...

I am trying to get an estimate of how much money I am going to need for Tips on the day of the wedding. Does anyone have a list of people you tipped on the day of and approx how much you gave them?

Did you tip the
Florist??
Band
DOC
Maitre Dee
Photographer
Videographer
Make up Artist
Hair Person

I know I am missing people....and have no idea how much!

Thanks for your help!

Re: Tipping...

ok, i'm getting married next friday but I am only planning on tiping my matre'd & my bridal attendant (two differnt people at my hall) probably $100 each. I know my sister tipped her matre'd like $300plus but my matre'd is the same lady I've been dealing with and shes not that great, so I only plan on tipping her $100. but I will be tipping my dj about $200-250 there are 4 people that come with the DJ ( singer, lighting tech, dj & MC so each get $50. I'll tip a few bucks to my limo guy $20 here and there for helping out. I will probably tip my hairsylist and makeup artist ( I'm thinking $10 each). I am definitly not and don't know anyone who did tip my florist. The Video guy & photographer I'm not sure?? I know we all paid a gratuity already so I don't know if its appropraite. let me know if you know any different. But I think thats my plan ( budget $600). If the day of someones service is outstanding, I'll give them money or more mony. Well let me know if you need anything else I'm sure this answer was way too wordy. Beth

Beth- Thanks for this information. I was told to top my Maitre De $400-$600? I also know that I am having a 13 peice bad - so does that mean I have to tip $650 for the band too?? All I know is my tipping is really putting my budget over big time....considering those tips alone are big $$$ and don't include everyone else I need to tip hair, make-up etc. etc etc...

I noticed that you are getting married the day before me at the same place (Hamlet.) We were told that the maitre d's tip is shared with everyone else helping at the site, so we should tip a total of $5-$7 per guest to the maitre d. Congrats and have fun next week!

Isn't gratuity included in your per head price? Ours was. We went above and beyond that and tipped our maitre d.

I'm getting married at Temple Chaverim also!
that amount is only what is suggested. You are not required to give that much. I'll probably give $3 per guest which will end up being a little over $300.

I am probably having 200 guests, which means at $3 a head it is still going to be $600

Good point. We paid an extra 18% on top of the per head price for taxes and service charge, but were told service charge covers the workers salary, tip excluded. Does this sound right??!!

When I was in college I worked at a catering hall and the 18% gratuity that you pay is like a house gratuity it pays the servers salaries. I feel that if you got exceptional service you tip the night of the event. typically 5$ per head for maitre'd and 1$ per head for the bridal attendent. Think of this way anyone who works in the service industry is working for tips. You tip the valet 1$ all he did was park your car. Your server took care of you all night. Don't you think they deserve something to.
