I'm trying to look up some norms on tipping the day of the wedding, but everywhere I go they say something different. What do you think is appropriate?

jmho: tip what you want!!!
there are a lot of girls who had envelopes ready, and ended up 'shuffling' money around depending on quality of service.
use the numbers you've read as a ball-park. don't seal the envelopes, and play it on a quality-of-service basis.
i ended up not tipping a few vendors because their service did not meet the expectations THEY set up for me to have of them.

Re: Tipping
I've found that around $400 for the maitre d/bridal attendant and then $100-$150 for the DJ. Then $50 for the coatcheck Then 15% to my hair and makeup people and I think I'm going to ingore the rest, like bathrroom attendant, photgrapher and valet. Also, the limo driver's gratuity is included in their price so we are not going to add onto that.
Of course if anyone really impresses us on the day of or disappoints us we will adjust accordingly. Does that sound right?

the only thing i would consider changing is the photog: this is a person who will be with you most if not all day. just something to think about.

I would also reconsider tipping the photographer (if they do a great job that day)... but not if the photographer is the owner!
