How much do you tip your vendors and/or catering hall ppl? Of course it might depend on what kind of work they did and how much they went above and beyond but I just need some sort of guideline so that I dont UNDERTIP anyone.. Ack.. 7 weeks to go

Re: Tipping
O.K. here goes! I am getting this info out of The Everything Wedding Book(page 20). I will give you the shortest version possible. The hall is probably charging you 15-20% for a service charge. If they are super good to you another $1 or $2 per person can be given to the manager at the end of reception.Restroom, coat check, valet should be paid ahead of time by the host $1 to $2 per guest. Limo drivers are usually paid by the company but you can tip them extra too!!DJ's get 15-20% of their fee and Bands get $25 per member. Florists, Bakers, and Photgraphers are usually not tipped and that is all she wrote. Hope it helps!!!!!

VickalinA.. THANK YOU!
I always thought it was the head waiter that got the tip not the manager

Re: Tipping
Here's a link to an article from theknot.com. Sorry I don't have time to summarise it.......
I am not sure that tipping guideline article is 100% accurate. I know that the tips for the coat check and valets are included in the 18%service charge-at least it is at WM. Also I know that guests tip the valets on their own even if they know it is included.

Re: Tipping
I just glanced through the article, and I agree with dcbride. I also thought the tips for the band / photographer were kind of low

Re: Tipping
I have read $3-$5 per guest for the event manager is customary- but I think that is ONLY if you have amazing service start to finish (not just on your wedding day, but while planning it) Also, I am tipping my photographers $200-$250. My florist delivery people (not sure how many there are) $75 to split. They have to set-up ALL the flowers so I want them to do a good job. I will also have some extra cash on hand to tip our personal waitress and anyone else who goes above and beyond on our big day.
