I have a question regarding tipping. Has anyone, or is it costumary to tip the seamstress who alters my gown. She has been wonderful! Also, what do you tip the hairdresser who is coming in 1 hour before the shop opens to do my hair. All help is appreciated. Thanks

Re: Tipping
I think there was a thread on this recently if you do a search you will find one on tipping seamstresses. As I said at that time I gave 20 dollars after my second fitting because I wanted some new alterations done and she was going out of her way.
As for the hairdresser I have someone coming to my home so she is considered the owner and I am giving her a lot of money so I am not going to tip her. If it is not her salon I would give her a tip.

Re: Tipping
You could get her a little 'gift' if you feel funny giving her cash. Bath stuff or candles are always nice. Otherwise I would give her money. If you feel she really went out of her way for you.

Re: Tipping
While I was having my fitting recently I overheard the seamstresses talking about a basket that they had received from a bride. I thought that it was a great idea. I was in Fairway (supermarket that has lots of specialty foods ... imports etc) & saw the beautiful baskets that they make up ... so that's where I'm going to go to put one together.

I didn't know what was proper but I gave my seamstress in a dress shop a cash tip.
