TIPPING...

TIPPING...

I know that this has been posted before, but here it goes....

What is everyone tipping their Maitre'd, DJ, MC, Photographers, Assistants, Limo Drivers, Alter Servers, Etc.? (PS...Do we tip the Florist??)

I did a LI Weddings search on this. It's been asked before but everyone just put price ranges. If I'm not being too personal, I really would like to know exactly what everyone is tipping.

PLEASE HELP!!!
Thank you!!!
Kelly

Re: TIPPING...

This is what I did:

Maitre'd--$400
Bridal Attndt:$150
Photographer:$150
DJ: 3 of them : all $100 each
Florist: $125

I think that's it. Hope that helps!

Re: TIPPING...

Oh my God! I had no idea I was SUPPOSED to tip the florist and the DJ and the photographer? Is that standard? I have been basing all my thoughts on what my sis did at her wedding last year and I don't think she did any of that? The M'Atrade and that was it! (she didn't have a bridal attendant). Will I have people chasing me down for money the night of? EEEEKS!

p.s. - PLUS I heard some places 'suggest' you tip the CHEF!!!!! What? If that is the case, what the hell does my 20% gratiuity cover?

NanJoe...What did you tip your limo drivers...I have 5 and they really don't have to go very far.

Etiquette says youdon't have to tip the DJ, florist or photographer...but I guess it's all individual preference.

Don't stress. Some people told me that I should not have tipped all that I listed. That's just me though. I really couldn't afford to tip more than what i did, so I hope they were happy they got something. Use your discrection when tipping. I did not tip the Vallet parkers. The hall told me that they would not allow it. I felt bad, but I know my guests all gave them something at the end of the night.

Kelly: I only had one limo and a 10 minute drive. My ceremony and reception was at the hall. I think my brother gave him like $60. It was a little much for a 10 minute ride. I would say $20 a limo is fair. That is JMO.

PHEW! Thank you nanjoe - i got sooooo nervous that i would have to tell the FH there was even MORE money involved in all these shinanagins than we originally planned!

Anybody ever tip the chef? - I hear that is one of the things on a list of 'suggested' tips that the Carlyle hands you on your wedding night.

Re: TIPPING...

Do you have to give a tip to someone if they are the owner of their company? For example, my photographers and videographers are the owners....so basically they are keeping the money that I am paying for their services...they don't have to pay out to anyone. What do you think?

Also keep in mind if you are using the owner of a company (like the photographer or florist) you do not need to tip them. Obviously you should give the delivery people $10 or $20 but not the owners of the company.

And Laura, I would not tip the chef! That sounds a little much.

Re: TIPPING...

My photographer is the owner. I just got my bill and states right on it...

'It is customary to give the photographer a gratuity on the day of the event.'

ALSO...I shouldn't have to tip him until AFTER I see my pictures. I really won't know if he did a good job until weeks later...???

Kelly,
All the money you are paying to your photographer is going in his pocket. You only tip someone if they are woking for someone. Your photographer has A LOT of nerve
