Tipping

if your hall... on top of the 20% service fee... adds 'an executive staff fee' does that mean I don't have to tip the bridal attendant/the maitre-d??

My RH had an executive staff fee and I still tipped my Bridal Attendant $100. I had the money put aside and was going to tip her only if she deserved it, which she did. She was a lifesaver!!

Does the exec fee at the Royalton cover the maitre'd?? I didn't think it did but that would be great news!

i think it does include all the staff there, but then they say like additional tipping is optional... lol

the service fee is a tax. if it was labeled as 'gratuity' it would be a tip. so yes, you have to tip on top of it

For the Royalton there was a 19% tip added onto the cost but then they kind of pushed us for cash tips for the bridal attendants, cook, captains, madt'r d, etc. We had money put aside for the attendants and Mike T but thought it was rude when they pushed for more tips... especially since we already paid them 19% in tips.

I was a bridal attendant for 3 years. Even though catering halls state gratuity included or service fee included, your maitre'ds and/or bridal attendants don't get that. Catering halls use that money to pay the salaries.

Always tip anyone who makes your day special.

We were told that the 19% is included in their paychecks. We tipped the maitre-d and our attendants because we felt that they did go above and beyond.

Later that night we were flagged down to also tip the captains and the chef... we don't even know who the captains were! We had to go through our cards to find cash at the end of the night to tip them. It was ridiculous.
