Have a question: Do I have to tip? My catering hall is taking 20% gratuities, do I have to tip the host/hostess/coordinator as well? My photographer is taking a 10% svc charge, do i have to tip them additional? What about the DJ and videographer? I am paying for their(and assistants)meals and parking.
Help!

Re: Tipping
Good question, one that I don't really know the answer to. Some brides will tell you to tip everyone because it is polite. Others will say that the owners of a business (such as my photographer, maybe some of your vendors) do not need to be tipped. Etiquette says you don't have to, but some brides here give good reason why you should.
As for me, I don't know what to do yet. My hall also included gratuities, as did a few other vendors. I'm going to wait to see how much money I have left over!

Re: Tipping
Sorry, you have to tip. Unless your hall is extremely unusual, the 20% is not gratuity-it is service charge, the maitre'd and others never see it! Service charge is so that the hall can pay the staff their low hourly wage, it is not gratuity.....same with the photographer, esp. if the photographer you hire is not the owner...that service charge is something he/she never sees...
Think about how much your spending on your wedding, you could skimp on something to make sure you are able to tip the amount you should.
