Tipping

Tipping

Getting married this Saturday so preparing the tip envelopes. We went with the Douglaston Manor/Ariana Studios package which says it includes ALL gratuities. Well, it didn't include the Maitre D and bridal attendant at the DM but I am sure the guys at Ariana studios expect to be tipped.
How much would you tip for:
DJ
MC
Each limo driver
anyone else?

Re: Tipping

This is what we did, but I think we were on the low end. We had a day-time wedding.

DJ - $50
MC - $75
Each limo driver - $20 each (our agreement said gratuity was included already)

For hair, I gave her $60 (20%) and make-up was a friend of the family who was doing it for free but I actually gave her $80 as a tip.

Maitre d' we did the $3 - $5 pp and I gave her $400 (we had just around 100 people).

Photo we tipped $50 each (2 people) and video the same.

Wow do tips add up fast...

We did $100 each fr DJ/MC
DH over-tipped the limo driver... b/c he was a nice older guy. I would have rather over tip the Photographer since they are with us the whole day and were awesome.

I wasn't going to tip the photographer since it's her own business.

This was a great question piscescutie2002.

You did the DM.Ariana studios package which states that tax and gratuities are included in the cost for the hall.

Did you tip the BM and bridal attendants?

I do plan on tipping the DJ and photo ppl. Unlike hall, tip isnt included.

Ugh, the spending never endssssss

If the photographer is the owner do you still tip him/her? What about the second photographer and videographer??

I agree...spending NEVER ends. I'm still in wedding spending mode...well, wedding related items.

So most ppl say there is no need to tip the Owner... but I never agreed with it. It is still a service being provided, owner or not, it is their 'job' too. With something so important, I generally like to take care of those people. I just always felt weird not to tip. Anyway, use your discretion, it is rule of thumb, so it isn't wrong not to tip. hth

My photographer went so out of her way and was a hard worker so I wound up tipping her even though it is her own business. I wound up tipping everyone even though the DM/Ariana studios package said gratuities and tax included. They need to change that because the Maitre D tip was not included and was actually put into our contract as $4/person. Did not include the bridal attendant either. Not sure what it meant but I couldn't see not tipping the DJ/MC/Video either so we tipped them too.

Watch out for the limo though. It is a separate company that Ariana uses. There is a 20% gratuity in the contract plus tax that we weren't informed about until the limo picked up FH and also when I was sitting in the limo prepping to walk down the aisle. The driver hit us up for $400, can you imagine? We had to round up money right after we got married still walking down the aisle. I didn't appreciate that and have to check into and complain.
