Did anybody NOT tip for their hair and makeup trial?
I didn't, and now am starting to feel horrible like I should have....But, my reasoning was: 1, she owns her own business (doesn't work for a salon or anyone else), and I booked her on the spot. Guarenteeing her me plus 5 BMs and my mom for hair and makeup.
Is that OK, or should I have tipped anyways?

I don't know! But I dont think I would have tipped either in the situation you are in. I consider it the beginning of the service to be provided and she hasn't finished the job yet, and you do not tip till the job is done. So you tip at the wedding. Thats just how I look at it!

Yep, that's fine! I know a lot of people like to tip no matter what, but there are reasons behind tipping and besides showing your appreciation, tipping is also meant as a subsidy to income because the person makes less than others (like waiters or salon employees who obviously don't take home the full amount that you pay). So owners are not usually tipped unless they went above and beyond.
Also, you did book and have a lot of people for the day of. Don't worry!!

ok whew, thanks! Those were exactly my lines of thinking - and I agree in that if I'm booking her then the 'trial' isn't the final service....she'll get a nice tip the day of.
Just got a little paranoid - definitely don't want to upset the person doing my hair or makeup!

I think they realize you are just waiting to tip the day of! Dont worry about it!!
