Tipping Banquet Manager

Tipping Banquet Manager

We are going over the whole tipping situation and all the recommended amounts but we were wondering if we tip our banquet manager?
We are getting married at the Woodbury Country Club and our banquet manager Jeff has been so helpful and always got me the answers I needed within an hour but do they work on commission or is a tip expected?

I don't want to put myself more over budget but I don't want to be rude if it is expected!

Yes, a tip is definitely expected. $3-5 per person is the average.

what?! I wasn't planning on tipping my BM... I didn't think you were supposed to. I thought a tip went to the maitre'd. I was going to maybe get him a nice bottle of wine!

I am assuming that this is the same person who will be your maitre d'.. if it isn't, then I'm not sure.

Our BM/MD is the general manager of the country club, and he told us when we signed that he would be doing the job so we wouldn't need to tip.

Hiii Meg!!!! We didn't tip our banquet manager but the Maitre D that night we did, she was also my bridal attendant. So I don't think it is expected if he is not there that night as your Maitre D too, you could get him a little gift thought maybe?

Nope, you don't tip the BM. They get a comission on your wedding

THIS!

And the fact that the 20% service charge goes towards the entire staff who doesn't get tipped.

Aww like I said I'm not sure, some halls may do it the same like how my bridal attendant was my maitre d also. I had thought to tip separate but ended up only having to tip her. Yes I will be there! Can't wait to see you! Only 16 days! So excited for you I can't wait to stalk your pics!!

BM it is customary to buy a small gift for, not a monetary tip as far as i know

maitr d gets the 3-5$ pp

That was another question we had to, tipping our vendors? My mom said if we feel they did really well then we should give them something. We are feeding them too (our BM said not a lot of people pay for their vendors to eat!) I was like I'm not going to let them starve!!!!!!

I think basically you're expected to tip everyone, and you're expected to feed your vendors.

I think you're confusing the Banquet Manager with the Maitre' d. $3-$5 is the suggested tip for a maitre'd, not a BM.

Wait, if the venue charges 18% tax and gratuity... you're supposed to give the MD a tip on top of that?

For 150 guests that's like $500

!!!!!!!
