So I'm a little confused about this...Having been a bartender myself for YEARS when I was younger and now while I look for another job, I just assumed that you tipped the wait staff & bartenders on top of the service charge. That being said, I've never worked at a catering hall (just nightclubs & restaurants). My DOC said that I'm not supposed to tip them, just the Maitre'd (approx $3-$5/person). What are you ladies doing? I don't want to offend anyone or be cheap, but I also don't want to waste money. What is the proper ettiquette standard?
Also, what did you tip your DOC's and/or Officiant's? My DOC also said I shouldn't tip my Rabbi? He's not my family rabbi, but I wasn't sure if that was right? Help me wise ladies!!
im pretty sure at most rhs, the tip that you give the matried covers bartenders, waistaff, valet, bathroom attendant etc. the only additional people not covered under that is a bridal attendant which the rh might provide for you.
of course, you CAN give them as you know but the people who i listed dont expect it from anyone. plus the bartendar, restroom attendant and valet always get a few extra tips from your guests
sorry i dont know about tipping at DOC and in regards to officiant, im not sure what i am doing yet. its not my family officiant/church either and im paying a nice fee for the chapel, the minister himself, etc. so i dont think ill be tipping.
