Tipping floor refinishers?

Tipping floor refinishers?

We're having our floors refinished and I'm wondering if they guys doing the work are expecting a tip. There is one guy that's leading the job. He had one helper yesterday and a different one today.

Any thoughts on this? What has everyone else done about tipping or not tipping the guys that have done renovation work on your homes?

We tipped the guys who put the carpet down. I forget how much...maybe like $10 each. We tip the guys who have brought in furntiure we ordered too.

Well, we did end up tipping them just because I thought the guys did such a great job under hot and humid conditions and the results are great. They spent almost 2 full days sanding and finishing the floors to perfection before they even put down any of the finishing materials, and when he looked at the first coat of sealer he wasn't happy with it so he resanded and recoated one section of the floor with the sealer. I thought they really deserved something for their attention to detail. It was an instance where I felt the tip was really to reward good work, and not just because it was expected or someone's hand was out. I'll post pictures of before and after soon!
