So I was reading a thread and it stated that etiquette wise you don't need to tip the stylist if they come to your house, if you go to the salon then you do...does this sound right? I would think you would have to tip them if they came to you regardless...just curious to know what people think or have done.

Re: Tipping for Hair and Make Up
that doesn't make sense. maybe some stylists include tip in their charge...you should probably ask when you book them.

I never heard that, and especially since they're coming to you and making it more convenient for you i would really think you need to tip. I would do it regardless.

Re: Tipping for Hair and Make Up
The etiquette I've heard is, if they own their business and are working for themselves (the fee is going right into their pocket), then you do NOT have to tip them. This is what the thread could have been referring to, as this is the case for a lot of stylists that come to you.
If she works for a company (salon etc), does not own it, then you should give a tip.
I used somebody who came to me, and worked for herself - though I didn't feel obligated to tip, I still did anyways just cause she did a fanTABulous job!
Hope that clarifies a little.

I tip either way and base it on how much I like the end result.
