What are you girls doing or if you are married, what did you do about tipping of vendors who are the owners of the company?

Do you think they understood why, like there was no weirdness about it?- thanks for the suggestion on the flower in the hair too!

I hope they did because they get to keep all the profits, no one complained.

They should know. They're a vendor on here. I know they browse the forums, especially when their names are mentioned.

I agree, they're collecting all the money they're charging which is already at such a high markup, I dont really see the need to tip self-employed vendors.

Lol, you are so right...not that I said anything bad but after you said that, I deleted their names.
Thanks for the advice girls. I agree with not tipping them but I a need to grow a pair, because I know I will feel bad or awkward if they see me tip other people

I'm not tipping selfe mployed vendors but will tip their assistants. I am considering letting my mom or dad do the actual handing over of the tips so its less of 'my problem' haha if I think it's going to be weird... I know so babyish of me.

Re: Tipping for vendors who are the owners
It's up to you but i still tipped. I think it depends, i mean if somebody is working for themselves remember that everything is also out of pocket cost for them. And owners still have alot of costs, as the owner you pay the rent to a place, well thats if they have a company for example some photographers work for themselves and dont have other photographers working for them and work out of their home, alot of photo journalistic photographers are like this. But also costs for others if you have a company is the owners responsibility.
Just bc someone is the owner doesnt necessarily mean they make more money. Especially true with hair and make up artists and more so if they do freelance. They dont have a job where they have lots of business everyday or even everyday period. Many who work weddings, most of their income is what they make on the weekends so all depends. Also my mom has owned salons and everyone always tipped her even though she was the owner, she didnt really have ppl who came and didn't tip. Also seeing her experience first hand i realize how people do have a misconception that as the owner you make so much money. As the owner, you pay the rent for the place and can get very expensive, in a salon for example the owner buys all the supplies and you constantly have to buy stuff and gets expensive. Plus phone bill, electricity, and some employees whom you pay a salary such as reception, manager. Many who open a place have to put alot of money into a place and first few years everything you make is paying that off. Many times the stylists at a salon are making more money than the owner.
But again, all depends on the vendor and the situation and also very important to just do what you are comfortable with. If you dont want to then don't but if you want to dont feel like you can't.
I had looked this up and a site about etiquette about tipping says the answer used to be no back in the days but now the answer is yes with tipping owners. There was also a mb on that site i read and explained why. The subject was regarding hair salons though and shows how much out of pocket cost you have as the owner or someone who rents their own chair.
