Tipping furniture and appliance delivery people

How much do you tip these people??? Also if there are two do you tip them both the same amount or give one tip and tell them to split it???

Also, we are having our wood floors done - do you tip those guys?????

I appreciate the help ladies :)

Re: Tipping furniture and appliance delivery people

For furniture (or any type of delivery person). I usually give one the tip (hopefully in front of the other also) and say something like 'this is for you guys'. I just dont trust that all of them would split it if the other guy didnt see it.. but if one is in the truck, you have no choice.. But I usually give enough for both if its 2 guys...

Hardwood floor guys, I need that same answer We plan to have floors done very soon. I guess if its a family run business you dont have to tip, right?

Re: Tipping furniture and appliance delivery people

I asked about tipping the floor guys when we had ours done and got a mix of answers - some did, some didn't. I ended up giving our guys a tip because I thought they really went above and beyond. It was hot and humid when they were working and they worked really hard all day and into the early evening. At one point, the lead guy told us he was re-sanding the living room and re-applying the sealant coat because he wasn't happy with the way it had dried. I really appreciated that type of perfectionism. He seemed a bit surprised with the tip, but very appreciative. I can't remember how much I gave him though! I think it was $5 per man per day, but it may have been a bit more.
