Tipping Guide

Hello,

Any brides have got married at Chateau Briand before? I am getting married at this place this month, and they suggested $400-$1000 tips for the maitre'd. Is that normal? Our venue fees already included 20% tips.

Please advice. Thanks!

Most places recommend $3-5pp for the maitre'd - so depending on the size of your wedding, yea that's about normal.

This is pretty standard. The 20% fee you are referring to most likely isn't a gratuity but is listed as a 'service charge'. Our suggested maitre'd tip was $4-$6 per person. We tipped between 5 and 6 per person because the maitre'd deserved it! He's the one who has to set everything up, including everything you're bringing to the hall. He also has to coordinate the vendors and make sure everything runs on time and smoothly! HTH!
