those of u who are tipping them, when are u going to tip the maitre'd and chef? u want them to work their hardest... so before or after the reception?

OO I have a question about this. I was told when I gave my deposit that all tipping was included in my price. Is this true?? (For the maitre d, etc) Cuz I'm not going to tip anyone...Sorry!

We didn't tip the chef but the maitre d' was tipped at some point during the reception, about half way through. My brother handled the distribution of the envelopes for us so it was 1 less thing we had to worry about.

The maitre'd is not included, but I believe the maitre'd shares their tip with the chef.
And I think you should do it after, we planned on giving ours a certain amount, but she was really great, so we gave her a little more

We tipped the matre d', chefs, waiter staff and bartenders. We tipped everyone but the matre d' before the reception started and the the matre d' after the reception.

Well moast halls include a mandatory gratuity of about 18%, but then they recommend you tip the maitre'd another $3-5 per person...I'm not going to tip anyone else separately, unless they do something really exceptinal, and then after. The idea of a tip is to thank someone for excelelent service (this si why i HATE mandatory gratuities), s it will defintiely be after the reception or toward the end
