If your hair & makeup people are coming to you, are you tipping them and if so, how much? I originally thought to give my standard 20% but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that was crazy since they are keeping 100% of the fee. So, for my hair person, am I supposed to pay her the $150 fee plus an additional $30? That seems a bit crazy to me. What is everyone else doing? Thanks!

Re: TIPPING HELP NEEDED- hair & makeup people???
I'm curious about this as well. I don't know what to do on Sunday. They keep all the money. So do we really have to give them extra money?

I am having my hair & makeup lady stay till the reception starts, because we are taking our pic's on the beach before the ceremony She is charging me $100 an hour So I will not be giving her a tip

Re: TIPPING HELP NEEDED- hair & makeup people???
hi there - i used to work for cosmetic companies and also did make up for weddings - in their home -
if the artist is working for a salon - which means they areent going to get the total cost -that is when you tip a little more.
i used to charge $75 for the bride and 50 for everyone else -
use your judgement - if the girl/guy has to be at your house insanely (6am early) and you thought he/she was incredible - give a little more.
20% is the norm - but again - you have flexability if they are independant -Jenn

I tipped approximately 20% for both hair & make-up, both came to my house (but only had me to do).

According to the woman who did my hair who owns her salon (and was a friend so I trust her for the truth and she did not get paid) NO, there is not tip needed or expected if they are out of salon. That said, I did tip mine (whatever)

I don't plan on tipping. Both my hair and make up work for themselves and honestly I think this service is overpriced anyway.
Makeup gets to do 4 people and Hair 6. They will make plenty in a few hours.
