tipping maître d’

had the meeting with our RH last night and we're getting 3 attendants. 2 for me, 1 for FH. he mentioned that the tips are NOT included for these people and suggested that normally, it's $2-$3pp but insisted that whatever we want to give is still fine (after he tells us how these 3 will be doing everything and staying with us the whole time)

so here's the thing... we're having roughly 350 guests...

350guests x $2 = $700

$700 x 3 attendants = $2,100!!!

PLEASE DON'T TELL ME YOU TIPPED THAT MUCH!!!!

HELP. I don't know how much we'll tip!!!

well I had 100 ppl or so, so we tipped the MD $300 = $3pp
the BA I just gave a $50

I dont think u should tip the BA the $2 pp. they only help u, not all of ur 350 guests like the MD does. just give 50-75 for each of the BA's. and MD like 500

I think its redic to expect ppl to give such huge tips. JMO.

i was thinking this too. the BA's are not helping the guests, just me & possibly the bridal party

so the BA's get's considerably less tip than the MD???

Our maitre d' was a complete hiney hole.

In the middle of our reception he comes up to us and says that one of the guys who stuck around for the dj wants chicken fingers and wanted to know how we were going to pay for them.

He waited until my DOC was in the other room for his little 'attack'. I went BALLISTIC!! Ran off into the bridal suite where a good friend followed me and then proceded to poke said MD in the chest and tell him a thing or two.

Needless to say we didn't want to tip him at all but we did, I think a few hundred as opposed to what he was 'supposed' to get. Kills me too because we really loved our RH.

our BA was AWESOME!! We 'over' tipped her because she was all over us like white on rice but not in an annoying way. She was always the 'right' distance from us. She was always calm, cool and collected. I suggest envelopes with suggested amounts in them and then add or deduct accordingly.

the maitre'd gets $3-5 per person... but an attendant gets whatever u want to give them. and ur getting 3 ba's?! niiiiceee!!!
