Tipping owners??

Tipping owners??

A lot of the people I'm working with are the owners

Photographer
Videographer
MC
Hair Dresser

How does this impact the tips? I feel like a jerk not tipping.

I was thinking of writing out tip envelopes for the whole company (in each case I'm working with the owner plus other people, 2nd photographer, assistant, DJ, etc), and writing like 'Frank and staff' and letting the owner divvy up the tips. Does that seem fair?

I tipped our photo and video and they're both owners of their companies. They did such an amazing job that I couldn't imagine not tipping them.

Although now I realized I didn't put + assistant on them, but I figure they'd divide it up.

I've never heard of not tipping someone because they are the owners.

I think the way you are going to do it sounds perfect!

I've heard a lot of people say you don't tip the owners.

I think knowing its the owner may impact my tip a little, since they're gettng all of the money,.

I am definitely NOT planning to tip the Rabbi unless he knocks my socks off. He's charging $950 for our ceremony and 100% of that goes right into his pocket.

My Rabbi is charging me 650, but I'm aware that the money is not going to a temple as he is no longer affiliated with one.

However, the person I'm getting my makeup done - owns her business, but it's her living, so I can't see not tipping her - unless her work is awful (which by the trial, doubtful)

I'm just saying that until I got to LIW, I never heard of the no tipping an owner thing.

EDIT: With that said, most of my vendors are the owners.

We talked about it with FFIL and he thinks its absurd to tip owners. Truthfully, so do FH and I.

The way I see it, if you own the business, and you operate out of your home, you pocket every last penny you make. You don't pay rent for a storefront, you already own all your equipment, etc...

I run my own business from home, and to me a tip isn't about the monetary amount but more a gesture of gratitude, like wow I did such a great job they want to give me more than they needed to?!
It's a pretty good feeling, not gonna lie.

ETA: Thinking about it, the times I have gotten tips they were addressed just to me; I think putting 'and staff' is very nice
