Tipping people who own their business

Tipping people who own their business

What's the deal with this? Don't they already make all the money? Like for example your hair/makeup people or even a DJ or musician or photographer that owns their own company. Is it still expected that you should tip them? If so, are you supposed to give them as much (or dare I say more) than you would give someone who just worked for a company.

I am not trying to be cheap, I just really would like someone explain this to me.....

I think if they own their own busniess you do not have to go out of your way to tip since all of the money made from the service goes directly to them (no overhead). IMO

Do you think they are expecting a tip anyways?

We tipped our vendors who own their own business, but not 15% or 20%. For example, we gave our photographer and our DJ $50 each because they did a great job.

I tipped based on whether or not I thought they went above and beyond their expected level of service. Regardless of if they owned their business or not.

I believe owning a business really should not effect the tip because wouldn't you tip someone doing the same job if they were an employee and not an owner???? Why not tip for good service no matter who is giving you that service???

I agree. Unless they are going completely out of they're way, or giving you, for example a hair product for free or some makeup or something.
