I did a search on 'tipping AND photographer'. I looked through some of the posts.
I didn't see anything on whether or not to tip the photographer on the wedding day. If you haven't seen the quality of the photographer's work, how can you determine how much to tip?
There is nothing in the contract about tipping.
I was thinking about tipping when I get the previews?!?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

We tipped our photographer last night when we did our epics. He told us he's sending it back to us though - but we wanted to give him something - we LOVED him!!!!

I guess the thought of tipping for a service that you haven't seen yet, bothers me a little.

We're giving more, but our photographers are following us all day. Don't forget, this is the only vendor that is still doing work for you after your wedding. Just try editing all your own wedding photos, and 15% won't seem like much at all.

We were told (by our photographer) that (1) gratuity is entirely optional, but (2) if you choose to tip, 5-10% of the entire bill, *divided among all people there* is appropriate.
Our photo was about $3k. We had 2 photographers (tipped $100 each) and their assistant ($50).

i am giving him his tip at the end of the wedding.. of course the amount will reflect on how good he does the day of!!

We explained to him ast the end of the night that we would tip him once we saw the prooofs. We gave it to him immediately after seeing the proofs.
