Tipping Photographers

Silly question . . .
Did you tip your photographer the day of or after you received your proofs OR after all services were rendered and complete (i.e. you had your discs/albums in hand)?

we tipped the day of. we didn't tip after our engagement shoot, and felt awful about that, we weren't sure what to do then.

I am getting married in 2 weeks and we didn't tip after the epics shoot either, but am going to tip the day of, providing I'm happy with how everything is going (even though the guy is the owner and some say you don't have to)
