Tipping Question

Tipping Question

For those of you who have had a makeup trial, did you tip and if so how much. My mom and I are going for a trial this coming Saturday and I just want to make sure I do the right thing.

Well my make up trail was at a MACYS (MAC counter)...I was told I wasnt suppose to tip because I was obligated to buy $40 worth of their products in order to get a make up trail...but I dont know if you have to tip or how much to tip if its an actual vendor..

anyone else know this answer. The person I'm going to doesn't work at a local mall. She is a makeup artist who has her own studio.

you don't have to tip, but my makeup artist did such a great job, i gave an extra 20. My mom was there with me and said that I should, so i did.

I had my trial with Jen and Oksana, each charged $50 so I gave them $60 each.

I also had my trials w/ them and gave them both $60.

I tipped $10 for hair and $10 for makeup.

It's tricky b/c if it's there own business then they are getting the full profit....so technically you don't have to....

however when I had my hair & make-up trials w/ two people who DO own there own business I tipped them both $15 b/c they did a great job.

I had my trial free with Laura Mercier and tipped them $20. But, I also bought the lipstick and some eyecream.

I did....but I LOVED my trial....if I hated the trial, i'm not sure that I would tip. We tipped $20.00

Normally, you don't tip someone who has their own business and didn't travel to you.
I tipped for mine anyway, though because she changes around her whole schedule for me. I think I gave like $10 or something, not much.
