Hi....did anyone tip their seamstress? Not talking about someone who designed etc your dress...I got mine at Lillette's and my seamstress has been amazing....
If so how much is reasonable?
THanks!

hmm I didn't even think about this and I have my fitting in a couple of weeks... I probably wouldn't have... is it standard to tip the seamstress?

Re: Tipping Seamstress
I never even considered it, I didn't tip mine. I see no need, you're paying a fee for alterations, that goes towards her salary, I don't see why she should get even more.

I did, only because my Aunt told me I had to. ??? I threw her $25 and she happily took it! My dress better come out perfect!

Re: Tipping Seamstress
Yes, you tip the seamstress.
She is providing you with a service, same as your hairdresser, make up artist, manicurist, etc.

Can I ask who your seamstress at Lillettes was? I bought my dress there and will be doing my alterations soon...

Re: Tipping Seamstress
do you still tip the seamstress if she is the owner of the company? my alterations are very expensive- should i still tip?

I never thought of this either. I don't think you have to. I never tipped them when they did my BM dresses for the weddings I was in.

Re: Tipping Seamstress
I never thought of this and didn't tip for my alterations. I dont tip my dry cleaner when I have alterations done there...this seems a little out of control on the tipping front. Hairdresser yes tip, i always tip for that regardless if its wedding related or not, same with nails and makeup etc...

It's not customary to tip your seamstress at all. If she somehow went above and beyond, then you can tip... but it's really unnecessary and not expected.

Re: Tipping Seamstress
Thanks for all the posts...but I ended tipping my seamstress $25....with a nice card thanking her...she seriously went above and beyond...my sister got nowhere near the service I got and she used the same bridal salon...her wedding was last July....I think if someone goes above and beyond it's ok to tip...whether it's the norm or not.
