Alex and I are going back and forth...so you guys tell me what do we tip our band? Do we give each person an 'X' amount or give the band leader 'X' amount and have him split it?! We have 9 or wait is it 10 ppl to tip just for that....so what do you think?!

Personally, I am giving it to one person and having them allocate it. They might have some agreement as to who gets what so I don't want to get involved and mess things up.

Dh is in a band that plays weddings (they were featured in Modern Bride )....ususally one person in their band always handles the payment/tips, etc...just easier that way--then they divide it up!

I tipped $30 for each bandmember-so that equaled $270. I fed them as well.

I know this tipping thing for the wedding is confusing. In a restaurant you tip 20% but if you tip everyone 20% at the wedding that is a lot of money when everything costs $$$$$.

I would tip the photographers more since they are with you all day.
I would think that anything over and above what they get paid should be appreciated. I would not give 20%! That's just too much. If you band cost 5000 then that's $1000 in tips just for the band!

As for band, DH sometimes doesn't get tipped but when they do it ranges from $200-$1000 (total) for the 5 of them.

I didn't tip my band, but paid for all of their meals. I had a 10 member band.

thats my prob id love to tip the band...but more i think about it thats going to be 1k extra and than i have 2 photo. and 1 video guy....plus im feeding them all! from what i heard yesterday my dad talked to the band leader and he said they usually get dinner or $$...but they rather get the food?! that sounded a lil odd too me but b/c some of the members come from the city or further they dont always get to stop and eat b4 the wedding.
