Re: tipping the priest?
The priest marrying us is a personal friend so we got him a gift to say thank you. If this is a Catholic priest then the fee you pay goes to the Church to pay for the services provided for your wedding (people who need to clean the church, set it up for your wedding, electricity, supplies, etc.) and not to the priest performing the ceremony. (ETA: if its not someone you know/grew up with, then a tip isn't necessary, but it's a nice thing to do...even if you just got him a very little something to say thank you, like a $20 gift certificate to a local restaurant or something like that. Not necessary but will absolutely be appreciated. The way I figure it is that if I'm tipping a stinkin maitre d' hundreds of dollars, than I can give a little something to the person who actually married us!) HTH!

Re: tipping the priest?
we didn't and i've been feeling guilty for a long time. but i'm glad to hear that most/all aren't.
We had 2 priests and one is my great uncle and i forgot to give him a gift so my parents sent one on my behalf while DH and I were on our honeymoon

Re: tipping the priest?
we did. we gave $100 to the priest in addition to the $400 'donation' to the church.
