Tipping Vendors

So here is the final question:

What is the DEAL with tipping?

Who do you have to tip and how much?

And do you really HAVE to tip everyone? I thought that is what 'gratutity' was for in our contracts?

And what about a band? If I have a band, I need to tip EACH person?

I think those wedding budget planners need to add an EXTRA COLUMN for TIPS alone!!

Re: Tipping Vendors

I think you should tip according to how well of a job is done.. i heard that the maitrde gets about 2.00 per person for his tip... Also i would tip the photographer about 100.00 if you felt a good job was done.. the hair person i would tip 25.00 and the make up 20-25.00 im not sure of the band because i didnt have a band, i tipped my dj a 100.00

Again, i would go with my gut....

Re: Tipping Vendors

DH was in shock when we sat down a week before our wedding to figure out the tips. Honestly, I can't remember how much I tipped everyone but this is who I tipped and any words of advice I have.

Of course I believe that tipping is based on service and the contracts.

Maitre d ($2-$5 pp)
Bridal Attendant
Waitstaff (this is typically included in contract but I come from a family who knows the waitstaff does not get much of a tip from that and work sooo hard)

Priest
Alter Servers
Organist (I had some special come in and sing and play for us)

Florist Delivey (remember they set up your centerpieces, pew bows, etc.)

Photographer and Ass't

Viedeographer

Limo Driver

DJ/MC

Makeup/Hair people

I am sure there are more but can't think right now.

I figured out how much by doing research with recently married friends and on this site (as well as performance).
