I believe that garbage men make quite a nice salary.. better than mine.. I don't feel the need to tip them... JMO

they take my cans from where we have them in the driveway , dump the garbage and then put them back

Yes, garbage men in teh city make a decent salary. However, here on LI they dont make the same. Every town is different.

From personal experience and alot of home construction I can say that if you tip your garbage man he may take more garbage than alotted.

You have to tip the garbage men. Especially in nassau county. My neighbor never tips them, and they throw his cans everywhere. Give them money, and a case of refreshments. You'll never have a problem. Thats how it works with the town of hempstead garbage men.
