I need some help. The summer has flown by so quickly and I return to work tomorrow. Last year Tommy was only 5 months so the transition was pretty easy. Now at 17 months it is not going to be so easy. DH works nights so he is home with him during the day (that is a plus). Any tips on making the transition easier for Tommy and his mommy.............I am already a mess............I only work about 5 minutes away but I think the idea of coming home for lunch may make things worse. Please help.

Re: Tips from working moms
I would say ease into it with a shorter work week but if you are a teacher you have to work when the school starts so that is not an option. I think if you remind yourself that this week will be difficult but you got thru it last time and you will get thru it again you will feel better. Remember you will be home by 3ish (right?) and the day will fly by. Try to spend some good quality time at night with him. Try to call the house during your lunch break so you can reconnect with him and he can hear your voice.

Re: Tips from working moms
I work and like you, am 5 minutes from home. My daughter is 20 months - I always come home for lunch. She loves it - we eat lunch together everyday - then we play for a little while - and then she takes a nap and I go back. If you can go home why not do it? My husband is home with her too - and it's a nice hour we all spend together. I also try to spend time with her in the morning - I get up earlier than I used to - this way I feel like I have sometime to play with her before I go to work. I realize how lucky I am - I get to see her a lot compared to other working moms - but sometimes it's still hard. Good Luck.
