Re: Tips on Questions for RHs

-Start and end time
-Earliest time guests can arrive
-Earliest you can arrive to take pictures
-Extras (ice scultpures, chair covers, linens, etc)
-Price (including tax and gratuity)
-Extra accomodations included (i.e hotel room)
-Price to extend hours or add any extras (if they are willing to give you a discounted price)

Before you sign make sure you neogigate as much as you can!! Once you sign that contract you must likely wont get a lower price/any extras

Is there a free night next door (if it has a hotel that it works with)
what is the tip structure
who is included in the service charge
how many bridal attendants
when do we get access to the bridal suite
what time could we arrive the day of
How many events at one time
How much are vendor meals
what is your minimum for the hall?
which menu are you getting?
How much are kids?!

Also, go over, and get in writing, the payment structure, and the cancellation procedure and what happens to deposits if heaven forbid the unthinkable happens

Its also important to ask:

How much vendors eat for?
How much xtra pp for venniese hour?
If wine bottles and bottled water (pellegrino) will be on the table or at the bar?
remember the higher # of people you can guarentee the lower the cost will be per person...

Most of it is done when you decide you want your wedding at the RH. They will def give you some stuff when you meet for the first time.I would def take notes as well so you don't forget anything (I bought a notebooK and took it with me everywhere wedding related). Just ask those q's when you go to see how much they are willing to negotiate and make sure when you do book a hall that those things are there (read every word before signing and giving your deposit)I'm not sure if you want to book the hall on your first visit (many Rhs will try to get you to do this though) because you should think about it first. It's a big financial commitment. If you love the RH they will usually hold the date for you for a couple of days (our RH did that) while you think about it or visit other halls in the meantime.

haggle haggle hagggle DO NOT pay full price for a thing!
Ask where the bathrooms are also, weird but a good question for those who have older guests.
ARe menus included?
is cake included?
how many waiters per table?
what can you cut out of your menu?
are candles included?
are there discounts for using preferred vendors..
don't be afraid to get up and leave, they WILL call you!!!

Ok, first of all - how CUTE is your dog!!! To me the most important thing is the 'feel' you get from how they treat you. You can ask lots of questions (and I think the ones listed are awesome!) but also just how they treat you - do they seem like your day is the most important day - that's what sold me on my place. I walked in, knew a lot about it, but loved how they treated me - I didn't feel like I was just another person. It was also important that we had just one wedding at a time. Good luck. Visiting the places will be huge - when 'you know', you know.

I have to agree with everyone else who said to negogiate. They can always give you a lower price. Dont stop till you get it! Good luck!

Re: Tips on Questions for RHs

Honestly, you have to go in thinking, 'this economy is in the can and any business I'm giving people is a big deal' - not to be a jerk but just remember that as you go in...then if you find a place you like, the best way to bring up cheaper prices is to say something like 'Ok, well, we like the place but is that the best you can do' or 'so is there any wiggle room or is that the best you can do?' Something like that. I think the best way to haggle is to be nice but be confident, if they can make it work, they will. Good luck.
