tissue for invites?

Does anyone know where/how tissue is placed inside the invites? They didn't send tissue with ours so I bought some at Kate's paperie, but I don't know how to place it properly. If you have pics it would be helpful!

it goes directly on the invitation itself and underneath the reception and reply card

Does it wrap around the reception card or does it lay flat underneath it ? Thanks!

I blieve it just lays on top of the print of the invitation. I didn't use any, my invitations have are in a frosted vellum cover, so from what I understood, I would have put the tissue inside the vellum which didn't make sense to me, so I just left it out.

the tissue lays right on top of the wording on the inside.

The reason they used tissue paper, is b/c back in the old days, they used calligraphy and the ink would still be wet, so they used the tissue paper as a blotter..
The paper lays right on top of the invitation wording..

Marcella's right. It's a very old custom ... useful at a time when invitations were handwritten. Now, its not really necessary, which is why they may not have sent you any. You can just leave it out if you want.
