My Fiance and I were looking at wedding bands yesterday at Bailey Banks and Biddle and he fell in love with the new Titanium bands. They are made of the strongest metal possible, stronger than platinum. They are so strong in fact, you cannot have it sized, they must order your size. The salesperson said that they appeal to men because they are extremely light (it feels like nothing in your hand). They are also EXTREMELY cheap...approx. $150!!! For those of you who haven't seen them, they are a dark silver color, but muted, not shiny at all. I am not crazy about them, but they are growing on me. I feel that if that is what he really wants then fine, because he's the one who has to wear it forever! What do you all think? Has anyone seen Titanium bands?

Re: TITANIUM WEDDING BANDS????
My Fiance is in the Air Force and training to be a fighter pilot. He wanted a ring ' that was made like his fighter! and also he has his degree in ENG so he knows all his metals. He was all about Titanium and I have seen the BBB one and also Whitehall as well as Fourtnoffs has some nice ones (the lady at Fourtnoff turned her nose up to us when we asked about them though) He wanted something light so Titanium was perfect but the fact that is scratces easiy and most come in atleast a think MM width we chose to go with a white gold comfort band for him.
I think they are nice, but some people comment about how most aren't shiney. So all long as you can deal with the dull finish for your life. Then go for it!! Have fun! I loved ring shopping..

Re: TITANIUM WEDDING BANDS????
I think they are very cool looking but there are some signifcant drawbacks:
a) can never be sized - Chance are that life will bring signficant weight fluctuations.
but more importantly:
b) The metal is so strong that is cannot be cut by doctors incase there is an accident and must be removed during an emergency AND since the metal is so strong, the ring can cause more injury if it is caught in some sort of mechanical device (only relevant for men who work with their hands and or do mechanical hobby work)

Re: TITANIUM WEDDING BANDS????
If the shine is a factor - After you use it, it does lose some of it's shine and our platinum rings got scratches just from daily wear.
A duller ring means it's been worn longer

Re: TITANIUM WEDDING BANDS - strength
I'm questioning their inability to be cut by doctors in case of an emergency. I did some work with titanium when I got my degree in metalsmithing, and I cut it all the time, with a fine jewelers saw blade. You can't solder it - all connections had to be cold-joined - they are probably casting them to size. I think there was one option of heat-fusing, or welding, but it probably does not leave an attractive join, hence the caveat that it cannot be sized. So, if it ever did have to be cut, it would not be able to be fixed to be worn again.
The real attraction of the titanium when I worked with it years ago was the beautiful peacock colors you got when you heated it - ranging from wheat to magenta to blue and purple, depending on the temperature.
