Short version: yes, Mor is short for Moran.

Long version: yes, Mor is short for Moran. I was born in Israel and moved to NY when I was 7 years old. As you can imagnie, Moran is not a good name for a 7 year old () so my parents advised me to shorten my name to Mora .... but Mora means teacher in hebrew and i thought that was ridiculous so we truncated yet another letter and I became Mor. The end
