I'm trying to find a makeup artist for my '09 wedding. I need some opinions on if it is worth spending the extra money to be airbrushed. What do you think?

No airbrush...I was told that if you cry at all...you never know..a streak will ruin the airbrush......I opted for no airbrush...

thats not true at all. Airbrush should NOT streak unless the person did a bad job, or what happens is if they use silicone based foundation for the airbrush which for a wedding they are NOT supposed to do, silicone is used for photo shoots and stuff. MANY brides on here have done airbrush including me and none of us had any experience with streaking, the 2 years ive been on LIW i never heard a bride say this happened to her. For a wedding, make up artists use water based airbrush foundation.
Mine stayed on all night, through sweat and everything and did not streak. Even the next day when i woke up my make up was still perfectly on, so it was good bc i didnt have to re-touch my make up at all the day of. Plus i didnt even feel it, it was very light and loved the look of it

Denise, your make up came out really nicely. Did Maureen come to your house/church/hotel (where ever you got ready)? Or did you have to go to her shop? It looks like you had her sister or family do your hair too?

she came to my house the morning of to do my make up. YES her sister claudia did my hair, I LOVE how she does hair and in all the trials i had seen of theirs and brides on the day of, i knew i wanted both of them.
You can go to her if you want. She doesnt work in a salon though, she does make up for tv shows and claudia also does hair for tv shows, so during the day on weekdays that is what she does and on weekends does weddings. But she does trials at her home and also can go there for day of, she lives in the city and has a room that is like a salon. Well it has the salon chair and everything else a salon would need

I had mine airbrushed and it was so worth it- I tend to be oily later in the day & even at midnight- my makeup was still perfect- no oilyness at all- and not one touchup was necessary during the day

Its best to get a trial and see how you like it b/c everyone has different opinions about it. I personally didn't like it so I will be using traditional make-up. Some girls rave about it though, so it is really up to your personal preference.

I had airbrush and my skin looked flawless. I cried during the ceremony and there were no streaks.

I think it also depends on the person doing it too. If you use the wrong pressure or depending what type of foundation you use, it can come out wrong. It shouldn't feel cakey, you shouldn't even feel it actually. I remember reading this one site that sold the airbrush kit to businesses and there was a q&a section, and everyone asking the question were make up artists. Some were talking about the problems they were having with it and the site was telling them what they were doing wrong. The same goes with regular make up, some make up artists cake it on too much or don't cover up as well, some do the face such a different color and they have dark noticeable line by the jaw and then the neck is so much lighter. I know ive had my make up professionally done quite a few times with regular make up and some were a disaster and some were great. So i think it depends alot on the make up artist too

I had two trials done one with airbrush and one without airbrush. My first trial was without airbrush and it felt cakey and it came off when I was eating(wiping my mouth). My second trial was airbrush and I loved it! It's very light and doesn't come off very easily. I am going to get my makeup airbrushed for my wedding day i say go for the airbrush!

Re: To airbrush or not
I personally think airbrushing depends on your complexion. I have a light caramel complexion...and I tried both airbrushing and traditional--
In my opinion I think the lighter you are, you can get away with airbrushing...if you have a darker skin complexion, I'd say go with traditional
Although the airbrush made my skin look so flawless, I felt like I wasn't staying true to myself--it made me look like someone completely different and I didn't want to look like someone different on my wedding day. This is because I have a darker skin tone and I felt that the traditional took my complexion a whole lot better.

If you are going to be crying, no matter what makeup you use, you have to be careful -- you are going to be wearing mascara and stuff too, i assume, so you should blot right under your eyes as you cry to catch all tears. this way no makeup runs (airbrush or not) and you don't wind up with racoon eyes!

for wedding day i would hope a make up artist uses water proof mascara, most will. Ive never seen a bride whose make up got that messed up. Airbrush is JUST the foundation, the rest of the make up such as the eyes are regular make up so the possibility of make up running down your face can happen with either. I didnt have a problem with eye make up and i had alot on, when i went to touch up my make up before the reception i realized that i didnt need to touch it up at all and was fine as is.
