I just went for my first fitting today and I have to go back May 7th b/c the seamstress asked me if I was bloated! I was at first insulted, but when I told her yes I'm do for my period Tuesday. She said then you have to come back. I asked her why and she told me that is why my dress wouldn't zip past my bust line. She said once she does alterations and I come back again it will have to be redone again. She told me that some people don't realize when they are bloated things fit differently. I was very glad she asked me and told me this so I didn't waste money on unneeded alterations. Just a little tip for any of you who are going for fittings to try to schedule in the middle of your cycle.

Re: To All Brides!
I can see why they'd say that because I know that a week before my period I feel & look so bloated! Very normal & better to go when you feel nice & skinny!!!

Re: To All Brides!
UGH! if my cycle continues on it's course the way it is now, I will have mine on my wedding day!
I didn't plan it that way... but I certainly can't change it now.
When I go for fittings, I better mention that to the seamstress. Thanks for the tip!

You can actually'change' it. If you are on birth control you can skip the last week and restart a new Rx. I've heard a lot of women do that for vacations and special occasions. My doctor has told me its safe to. That might be a way to get around nature. Just a thought.

Re: To All Brides!
Thanks. I was thinking about this yesterday. I was thinking how many brides picked their wedding date around their period? I didnt even think of it, but got lucky.
Ill try to have my fitting end of May. Thats fine for me right? 2 months before the wedding?

WOW! I am glad that you girls responded to this post. I was afraid I was sounding to pushy by telling everyone to keep it in mind, but this was the first time I really actually thought that it could alter my fitting. The rest of the dress fits perfectly. The length is great. All she has to do is the busle and the top. It really hit me yesterday when I put it all on. I have pictures. But they really didn't come out good b/c there was nothing dark for me to put the dress up against. I'll to post them later on and see how they come out.

Re: To All Brides!
It's true, I have to keep that in mind b/c I find myself buying clothes when I'm right about to get my period..then the pants/skirts end up being too big after my period's over!
Thanks for the tip.

Wow, talk about being blunt!! But, in the end she was just looking out for your benefit which means it was a good observation!

Yes, very blunt, but like u said she was looking out for me. At least some people in this business don't want to make a quick buck by lying to their customers.
