what paper did you use to wrap it? I went to michaels last night and they didnt have any nice paper! I need some thick pretty paper because I am using those post office boxes and I have to cover the blue/red writing on the side of the boxes.
Re: To all the girls making their own card boxes ...
why dont you get some kind of thin foam and wrap it with fabric... and attach it with hot glue gun ... just an idea !?!

Re: To all the girls making their own card boxes ...
I used a heavy brocade fabric and it was a little hard to do since I wanted invisible seams -- paper is probably easier.
Not sure if you need paper for anything else, but papermart.com has a huge selection of wedding paper and we used it for our favors.
We got our fabric from Joann's -- they had a few options in white, ivory, etc.
To mask the writing problem (which you can have with anything) you can tape computer paper underneath and it will hide the print -- I've done that many times when wrapping things

I was thinking about doing that too but then my mom said it might be easier to wrap it with that commercial brown paper and the rewrap them with the wrapping paper. But if I use fabric I wont need to do so much wrapping

This is beautiful!!! I am leaning towards the fabric idea. I will go to MK Trimmings today to get some fabric. How did you hide the seams?

instead of having the fold on the outside, and pulling it to the side, you push the extra fabric inside and have the side piece come down flat. kind of like hospital corners. does that make any sense?

these are really cute.....
yours is beautiful and the ivory is my color. How did you get the modern bride to copy and save the pic? I cant do that because it saves that the images are protected

right i think i get it. So you cut out the bottom of the box and wrap it around to the inside of the box right?

Re: To all the girls making their own card boxes ...
i painted my boxes first with a off white acrilic paint since they were brown and i didn't want the brown to show through the fabric.
then i measured and cut my fabric i wanted my fabric smooth against the boxes so i used a fabric glue called Sobo i basically painted it on the boxes in small sections at a time to make sure it stayed smooth and even. after i finished the trims iwas on the fence how i was going to attatch them together since i have to transport i didn't want to glue them all together. So i decided velcro was the way to go After I had them all together I came across some pearl letters at michales so i dug through the bins to find a L M and J to make somewhat of a monagram for the top.
Since FH has said he wanted the silly cake toppers on our cake and I told him no a snow balls chance in heck I am going to surprise him by puting a few of the silly ones on the card box I figure FH as well as our guests will get a kick out of that
WOW that was kinda long but I hope it helped a few of you girls out

Fabric is a great idea ! At least this is one thing I don't have to worry about doing since Majestic Gardens has a beautiful Bird Cage for our guests to put the cards into , and there is a lock on it too ... Which is a good idea !
