to all the parentless girls out there...can you share any ideas...

on how you may be commemorating your mom, dad or both at your weddings? we have a few ideas but were wodering if there are others - we really want to do something special for fh's mom's memory.

so far the only thing we are definitely trying to do is either make another throw away bok for me to bring to cemetery that morning or have acenterpiece made for me to bring there that morining.....we are also giving out pins from ALCASE (lung cancer) with a donation in his mom's name to all in addition to our favors...

if you don't mind, please share any special things you might be doing..

thanks!
(and know you are in our thoughts too b/c it can be so difficult planning without them here)

I just worked a wedding where a memory board was set up for the brides parents & everyone one signed into the guest book, then signed into a 'time capsule' kind of thing in memory of them. It was a little emotional but a very beautiful thing.

We are trying to figure this out as well but I know we will have a memory candle for my mom at my table during the reception. We also might put a note on our programs...In Loving Memory of...

We are still trying to think of anything else.

-FH's bout will have a calla lilly & a red rose for his Dad
-I'm wearing my Mothers engagement ring on a necklace
-I have a locket w/ their wedding photo that will be pinned inside my dress
-I will make sure the priest mentions them
-I will have the Irish prayer in my program in memory of them

So far I have decided that I am going to the cemetary the day before with flowers and a banner that say mother of the bride. I am also going to have both my parents and FI parents wedding photos on the mantle behind the dais (i can't spell behind our table) Definately in memory of in our programs but I don't want to do anything that will provoke too much emotion. I am going to be a wreck as is. This mother's day just S***CKS. I miss her.....

We did not want to go too overboard and make it too emotional. We had a short reading at the church, and Mark and I lit candles for them (we did not have this mentioned, it was just a moment for us, me for Mom & Dad and Mark for his Grandfather. We had their wedding pictures at the reception, and did a mention in the program. My sister got me a locket and put my parents pictures in there, and also a replica of my fathers nypd badge. Mark is a NYPD Sgt as also, and my father had retired a LT., anyway, he went to a butt load of tracing and paperwork and found my fathers Sgt's badge # and arranged an exchange with the guy that had it! So he presented his new badge to me at the RD. That really was emotional, he had me and all my sisters in tears. It meant so much to me that he went to all that trouble. Now I tell him all the time he has to stay a Sgt forever so we never have to give that badge back
