I didn't do anything special either. I just made sure my hair was straight that day (instead of with my natural curls) since I look more 'done' that way. At the salons I would just use a clip to put up the front or back of my hair to get an idea.

Didn't do anything special at all. I just focused on finding a dress that I liked and looked good.

Actually I wasnt prepared at all when I found my dress. I just stopped in on a whim with my mom to just look. The ladies there had rubber bands for me to put my hair up etc. I don't think you really need to do anything special. Good Luck and have fun.

they usually have everything you'll need there - strapless bras, heels, etc. just make sure you wear nice underwear. =0P

I wouldn't suggest putting on alot of make up, you don't wanna get any on the dress...I see people getting it on just shirts when they try them on.

I didn't do anything special. I just brought a clip to pick my hair up so it didn't get laced into the back of the dress.

I didn't put on extra makeup or anything, because I didn't want to smear it on the dresses! And I'm not sure how I'm doing my hair, although I'm leaning toward half-up, half-down, so I just left it down as usual. If you have a LOT of hair, you might want to pull it up so you can better see the necklines of the dresses.
Besides, unless you're planning on getting an airbrush tan (or a real tan) for your wedding day, I wouldn't worry about the makeup too much. Your wedding makeup shouldn't change the color of your skin--just wear your usual makeup and some lipstick if you don't, usually, because most brides wear lipstick even if that's the only day in their entire lives.
Have fun!

I just wore my hair half up to get an idea of how it would look with veils and such.... I regret not bringing heels!!! I hope that won't come back to bite me in the butt with ordering pettite length!

if you're an odd size you might want to bring your own strapless--I'm a 38DD, so I brought my own. Then I realized I must have put on weight since last summer. (I've already taken a little off.)

It's not a bad idea to try to figure out what size heels you want to wear if you're going to be actually ordering a dress, because of petite lengths, and hollow to hem. It happened to work out that the standard hollow to hem of my gown is exactly what we would have ordered anyway for me to wear flats to 1' heels, which is what I had planned on. My fiance is less than 2' taller than I am, and I promised him that I wouldn't be taller than he on our wedding day. Well, now I'm having problems finding shoes with 1' heels that I like, and which aren't expensive. I found one pair of $160 shoes that I love, but nothing cheaper, and when I commented to my fiance that it's his fault that I have to buy expensive shoes that I had found several pretty, much less expensive shoes that were 1.75' or so, he said, 'oh, it's OK, you can wear higher heels if you want.' Thanks, dude, but it's too late NOW. I don't want my dress to be too short.
It, of course, doesn't matter if you can change the hem or alter the dress at the waist. You can nearly always make a skirt shorter, it's difficult to make them longer.

I think you should do it that way. This way there is no guessing what you will look like
