Those of you that follow my wedding porn posts have probably picked up on the fact that I am OBSESSED with bird cage veils..
SO here's where I'm at:
I don't plan on wearing my looooong cathedral veil for the cocktail hour OR reception-it's too much veil. So I was thinking that MAYBE I could do a mini birdcage veil for the cocktail hour and reception. I don't want one that covers my entire face, maybe just goes over 1 eye.
Orrrrrrrrr is it too much with my dress? I wouldn't put any feathers on it or anything, I would attach it where my barettes are.
If you look in my 1st fittings album, I have my hair styled the way it will be for the wedding with my barettes.
BE HONEST, I can take it I swear. I know you girls won't steer me wrong.
Thank you!! Jen

I vote birdcage!!! I was thinking of doing one for CH and reception also, but it really didnt look right with my dress, but it would look awesome with yours!! I mean, when are you ever going to have an excuse to wear one ever again???

Honestly...I would say no. I think your hair looks beautiful, but I just don't think a cage veil works with a hair-down style. Personally, I only feel they work with a very certain kind of up-do.

I am totally partial to birdcages because I am wearing one and plan to leave it on throughout the night...but I think it would be amazing with your dress!!! GO FOR IT!!!!!
Also...I am not 100% how I will wear my hair...I tried 2 different looks and loved both of them, one is an up do and the other is half up and both hair styles looked amazing with the veil...so I dont think how you wear your hair matters with these veils...they are just so classy!

Hmmm, I would honestly say no... I think it will take away from your wedding day look. I also agree with Ali, that they usually look best with an updo and I think with your dress your hair will look better down like you plan to wear it. The way you are going to wear your hair and the look of your dress is a very sweet, romantic look, I don't think the birdcage fits with it. IMO. When is your net fitting? Do they have any birdcages that you can try on while you are at the dress shop to get the full effect?

Next fitting is the 27th. Good idea to try it on before buying.

Ok...I LOVE birdcage veils!!! BUT you have a fantastic dress and I don't think you want to distract from it. If it was simpler I don't think it would matter as much but personally I would go without it cause Cocktail hour EVERYONE is going to be your dress.

This has nothing to do with how it would look with your dress, but I wouldn't get one. I only had my veil over my face for 5 mins while I was waiting to go in to the church and walking down the aisle and it was driving me CRAZY! I would def try one on and see how you think you would feel having it in your eyes all night.

I really like the look of a birdcage for pictures but I don't think I'd want to wear it all night. Maybe wear it for cocktail hour and your first dance and then take it off?

I love birdcage veils. I say try one on with the dress and see how you feel. . honestly they are also fairly affordable so even if you just wore it for a bit and took it off it would be worth it! on the other side. . I do think in general they tend to look better with either updos or sleeked back hair dos but could kind of see the veronica lake thing going on too. .
