i have posted before about my family situation. My parents are divorced (4 years but separated since i was 13 years old). My dad is engaged to the woman her left my mom for (15 plus years together). My dad only admitted to being with her to his kids 2 years ago.
Do I give his fiance a corsage?
She has no role in the wedding other than being my father's date. We are giving corsages to FH's sisters and they aren't involved in anything but they are the only two sibling who are not involved.
I do not want to disrespect my dad, but above all i do not want to disrespect my mom. If we were to get a corsage for my dad's fiance it would be plain all white where as the mothers are custom to their gown.
Please help me and give me advice. Everyone tells me its up to me and I have no idea!!
THANKS!

Re: To corsage or not corsage
i don't think i'd give her anything ... but if you feel weird about it, maybe you should speak with your mom and see how she feels?

Nope, I wouldn't either. She has no role (and not to mention a bad reputation), so I wouldn't even go there.

Re: To corsage or not corsage
OK I am going to say... I think I would.
Although it seems things have been extra ugly the past 5 years your parents have been seperated for much much longer than that. From the sounds of it he is going to be with her for a long time now and she will be a part of your life whether you like it or not. IMO why start off in a bad way.
I have divorced parents also my father has been with the same woman since my parents divorce 20+ years ago. I have a wonderful relationship with my step-mom and although it took time. My mom also has a decent relationship with her. This took even longer as you can imagine. My mom had to learn to get over that everything is NOT to hurt her. It is to keep the peace. We have had struggles about this but it is the truth.
So yea, IMO I would give her one. Even if it is a simple one like you described

Re: To corsage or not corsage
She's not your mother, so IMO, she doesn't get a corsage.
It's not about disrespect (if your Dad asks), it's about YOUR MOM and close, direct family members (FH's sisters).
If he's insulted, that's his problem. I'd never give her one.

I don't think its necessary and I;m sure she's not expecting it and neither is your dad. don't even worry about it.

Re: To corsage or not corsage
I would NOT give her a corsage. As you said she has no role in the wedding. She's not a mom who riased you and cared for you.
Why elevate her to anywhere near the same level as your mom?
In this case, I'd be much more concerned about ow you feel, and how your mom is going to feel than whether your dad is going to get 'offended' especially since hebhid her from you for all these years./

Re: To corsage or not corsage
I'm not giving my dad's gf a corsage, and she has nothing to do with my parents' divorce.
