Hey gals- dare I say it but I'm finally getting the hang of the boards.. quick question- is anyone having a live percussionist with the dj? apparently it's great but I'm afraid it might get obnoxious... thoughts?

Re: to drum or not to drum...
I've never attended a wedding with a percussionist, but my parents have. My mother didn't care for it; she thought that the drums drowned out the songs the dj played.
Ask your dj for a demo.

I've never seen them, but I've heard great reviews of the steel drums at an outdoor cocktail hour

I am going to be usign a percussionist for my wedding in addition to the dj. FH keeps hinting that we dont need it. I have heard it at showcases and I love it, but if I hear negatives from people maybe I will cancel it

I was at a showcase where LI Sound had one. He was great and really made me what to dance, just don't if people would like it for the whole time.

I plan to look into this. I think it would add so much to the music. Especially since there will be a lot of Latin music played at my wedding, I think it will sound awesome along with the DJ. Just hope it isn't way to expensive.

my SIL had calypso drums for 1 hour during her reception. It was awesome.
