I am not sure if I should do an e- party. I really want to save money although I think my mom would help pay for it. Should I go for it and if so any cheap ideas?

Re: To E-party or not?
I THINK E-PARTIES ARE A GREAT WAY TO MAKE SOME LOOT FOR THE WEDDING...JUST PICK AN AFFORDABLE PLACE AND DONT GO CRAZY ON THE DETAILS...DONT OUT DO YOURSELF AND HAVE IT COST YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN GET FROM THE ENVELOPES.....DEPENDING ON HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD YOU BE INVITING, AN AFFORDABLE OPTION IS THE PRIVATE ROOM OF A RESTUARANT?

Re: To E-party or not?
I felt the same way because of money etc. We are having a party at my parents house. We are going to have it catered and rents tents, tables and chairs. I figured it was the cheapest way and we can also make it elegant. I want to decorate the outside and tables etc- so it can still be nice. My thoughts are it would actually be a help for our wedding, because I am sure people will bring gifts. Plus it's a great way to celebrate your engagement!

Def have one! If you are looking to keep costs down, consider having it on a friday or sunday night...if you are open to dates, most caterers will give you a discount if they do not have anything booked within the next few months. Also, if you are open to having only wine/beer as opposed to open bar you will save as well.
I am doing mine at Chateau La mer, and got an pretty good price

We are doing a backyard BBQ for close family (immediate, grandparents, aunts/uncles/cousins) and bridal party to keep down the costs!
I think it's a great opportunity for you and your family, bridal party and friends to get excited for the big day! It was important to us, also, to introduce the members of the bridal party to eachother since alot of them don't know eachother.

We are having a backyard e-party to save $....I don't think I'm going to bother to register I don't care as much a bout the gifts as I thought I would.
I think its just fun to party with people and celebrate. I'm sure the wedding is going to go by superfast so I might as well get some pre-celebrating done

We did one but really just b/c FH's fam insisted b/c we have had a long engagement and they really wanted to acknowledge it somehow. Honestly I am soo happy we did - we were able to celebrate (plus we made some $ to help w/ the wedding!). Maybe you can just get catered food at your house to save money or do a brunch - I know a lot of places have menus that are like $20 a person for a brunch/buffet! HTH!

Were having one at FHs aunts house to keep the cost down. We will have food catered and a few family members/friends offered to make something. We want to try to make some money for our wedding/house fund.

Re: To E-party or not?
We decided not to do it. Not many people in circle do them and we wanted to try to save as much. Also the second we told people we were engaged they started mailing in gifts that second so I didn't want anyone feeling obligated to give another gift.
We will however do a BBQ type thing this summer to celebrate. Just something very small since my mom keeps bugging me that she wishes we did something. We might have done something tho, if everyone hadn't given us stuff right away. But prob something REALLY small at our friends restaurant.
