To engrave or not to engrave?

To engrave or not to engrave?

Mine and FH's wedding bands are not similar at all. He has plain white gold band with some filgreee design and I have an eterity platinum design.

We were thinking of having a white gold band made for me also to match his filgree band and have it blessed also by the priest so that I have something plain to wear when we travel etc.

So should we engrave both of the diamondless, filgree bands OR his filgree wedding band and my eternity diamond band OR all?

Also- if we were to have them engraved...what do people usually write inside? Names and date?

Should I suprise him with this or ask him what he thinks too?

We talked about it and we each had the dates engraved in our wedding bands.

They're formatted a little differently. Mine says 7-18-09 and his says 7/18/09. Since we ordered from different companies, it was the only way we could do it.

Since my wedding ring has diamonds halfway around, I couldn't engrave anything else in it. There's very very little room to engrave if there are diamonds in the band.

I'd talk about it together and it can be a mutual decision then. But that's how we work. You know best what will make both of you happy!

He knows I'm engraving his but he has no idea what I'm engraving it with. I don't think he's doing mine.

I would say to go ahead and engrave...but I would just do the plain bands... you can wrtie what ever you want...I wrote in his
'Honey Bear 10-31-09'...my nickname for him

and I don't know what he is doing for mine... but I think it is a sweet touch

I would engrave it with a personal sentiment.
