To get a Videographer or not...

To get a Videographer or not...

Our photography package doesn't offer videography...

Should we upgrade and get it or should I put that money towards something more important (like an MC and a DJ instead of just a DJ/MC)

TIA!

My FH was dead set on getting video so we kept it. Our package at the sterling includes it so.

FH says he doesn't care if we have it but I want it. My sister got married in December 2013 and she just got her video and it was so much fun watching it

We are not getting video, just pictures

I'm in the same position right now.. All of my friends who recently got married got it.. I think it's fun to look back on.. But it's just so expensive. My FH says we should just use his go pro and ask someone to record different parts of the ceremony and reception. I just feel bad asking someone to do that.. But it would save so much.

That's exactly how I feel!

I want it, but I don't have the money really for it...

I'd hate to never be able to watch us say our vows or cut our cake and stuff...

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This is how I feel, I know our budgets might now allow for things but when's the next time you will splurge on memories? Yes it may be expensive buuuut don't compromise on the 'non negotiables' you can cut from somewhere else. My FH really wants video so that's my plane. HTH

We splurged and got it for the memories. Think of it as going all out for your big day.

We're not doing videography. I'd rather spend more on the photography and have gorgeous pictures and it's just not in our budget at all. Our photo budget is $3500 and to split that between photo and video would probably end up with someone who didn't do as good quality of work.

My FH and I were in agreement to get a videographer for the simple fact we asked those that didn't and they wished they had. Since we are having a somewhat smaller wedding we decided on cutting corners with certain things (ex: we did not send out save the dates and are doing our own invitations, allowing us to personalize some things especially with our invites, my center pieces are going to be big martini glasses which I was able to purchase and save money and my florists is working with me, saved a lot of money with my favors- coupons and my girls are so crafty ;) Basically where we cut corners with certain things we are in agreement with just a little splurging on other things hence deciding on having a videographer. At the end of the day the two of you have to do what you feel comfortable with and what is in your budget. Also I am sure some people may use their iphones to record some of your special moments. It may not be the same as a videographer but its a little something. You never know. Keep us posted on what you decide but don't allow this to take away from planning for your special days. Enjoy every moment : )

When I first started planning, I wasnt going to get a video but after reading people regretting it, I decided i didnt want that to be me, but there was no room in our budget. So I found one that is beyond reasonable and has great quality too. Lesean Rowe.. FM for more details

I really wanted video but since our photography is at the top of our budget we knew we couldnt go crazy. We met with Capture the Moment Video (her name is Jessica) from Lake Grove who is super reasonable. I am pretty sure we are booking her! check our her site!

See if they offer a basic video package. A lot of videographers are now offering 30 min videos. Most of the videography work comes from editing, so if they cut it down to 30 min (from a typical 2.5 hour video) it should be less money. We are with Capture the Moment and are doing a 30 min video. Plus, a shorter video means you can watch it more often :)
